[vlc-devel] cut and paste functionality

I need to be able to cut and paste a portion of an mpeg4 asp file into
another file. There seems to be a transcode capability but from file to
stream. Was wondering if there was a function to as in

extractTo(long start, long end, char* fileName);

that would allow me to save a portion of the file.
