only if it is a commercial format supported by the sound card.

Ambisonics is a far supperior format to any of the dolby or other 
commercial ones...  It is not commercial and can be decoded to _any_ 
speaker array .... 5 or 50.

yes, this is one of the challenges (at least on windows) ...
