There is a good chance that libupnp will compile on 
OS X with only minor modifications (has anyone tried
it yet?)

The remaining problem (also with the Windows patch) 
would be the proper creation of the library files (.dll for Windows,
.dylib for OS X), as the current Makefiles only create .so files.
