Yeah, that would be an option.

The idea behind this commit was that you usually want to play the file
in the current VLC when you double click on it (like in all the other
media players). I agree that some people like to have several VLC
instances runing but i doubt that most people watch more than 1 movie at
a time.

If this really seems too horrible, i'll revert the change.
