[vlc-devel] Perian

Hey guys,

I got contacted by the Perian folks last night. They are working on a 
QuickTime/Mac-plugin to embed libavcodec. This plugin is already a 
Universal binary, for which they used some of our intel-patches.
They are willing to work with us on Mac-specific ffmpeg stuff, share 
patches and some of them would even like to help porting our 
contrib-libraries so we could finally create a VLC UB.

The perian dev team basically consists of gbooker (lead developer of 
Fire and a dev on Adium), durin42 (dev on Adium) and The_Tick (Project 
Manager on Adium).

All of them are living in East-coast US (around Houston), but since 
they don't care much about their time-zone, you can easily fetch them 
on IRC. They are usually around in #perian and it would be nice if 
some other OSX-devs could sneak around and present themselves to show 
our interest.

I think that both sides will benefit when we work together on rather 
the same stuff. Perhaps, they also help us to get some glitches out of 
our current OSX-ports.
