The difference is IPv6

$ host www.live555.com
www.live555.com is an alias for ns.live555.com.
ns.live555.com has address 66.80.62.34
www.live555.com is an alias for ns.live555.com.
ns.live555.com has IPv6 address 2001:470:1f00:1070:1::1
www.live555.com is an alias for ns.live555.com.
$ host live555.com
live555.com has address 66.80.62.34
live555.com mail is handled by 10 ns.live555.com.

Your IPv6 connectivity seems to be severely broken (you can check on
<http://www.sixxs.net/tools/traceroute/>, for example).  I can't reach
you over any of our IPv6 upstreams (Global Crossing, Level(3),
TeliaSonera).
