You must have missed the email message that I sent about this about a week ago.

RealNetworks' bastardized RTSP variant has been implemented for the 
"LIVE555 Streaming Media" library, and this implementation could, if 
necessary, be released for use by VLC.  (Not to mention that the 
LIVE555 library also includes a full RTSP server implementation, 
including support for RTCP, numerous RTP payload formats, and raw-UDP 
streaming (including to Amino set-top boxes), with hooks for trick 
play.  There's really no need at all for yet another RTSP 
implementation in VLC :-)
