all that comes from the fact i misunderstood [17257]

i thought you reverted it to [17224], and that [17248] was a better way
to do this, and added wxString.Len() to [17248] ...

also i worked on 0.8.6 because it uses the same file than trunk, and
applied the diff to 0.8.6, and then to trunk, this is why i used the
word "frontport"
