Err... where the heck do we have UTF-8 strings in the source code? if we do
it's a bug, and this commit is just hiding it, which is bad, IMHO.
Think about those using VLC with the C locale! Translations can use UTF-8, but
the original strings in source code must not (and if you need some UTF-8
english message, please put it in would-be po/en.po and po/en_GB.po).
