I have not used it for a while, since I am using the python binding.
Both the python binding and CORBA module use the same mediacontrol API,
so the VLC part of the CORBA module is definitely functional. 
I will have a look at the CORBA part, to make sure that it still works
with a recent version of GNU-orbit.
