[vlc-devel] How does VLC decode high def quicktime(mov) videos?

I see there is a quicktime module, but it appears to use a dll which means
it's not likely mac/linux use it. So I was wondering what is used on those
platforms? Is it FFmpeg?

If not, can you please point me in the direction of the source files/libs
used by vlc to decode such hi-defs so nicely and in real time on decent
hardware?
