[vlc-devel] Mouse wheel (vertical) events shouldn't change movie position.

Hi,

Currently mouse wheel (vertical) key event triggers a change in the
movie position. But it is a bit dangerous. For instance the mouse
wheel in the Apple mighty mouse is very sensitive, and it is really
easy to skip a frame with this. Which is kind of annoying, when you
are watching a movie and clicking around.

Also the mouse (vertical) wheel tends to be perceived as vertical
device whereas the position is more horizontal. (this sentence looks
clumsy, but I think there is a truth behind it ;) )

I think we should think of having the mouse wheel vertical key not to
change the position.

If you really want to have the mouse wheel to navigate in time, we
could have the horizontal mouse wheel event to trigger the position
change.

I instead suggest that we should change the volume using the vertical
scroll wheel.

What do you think? Would you accept a patch that change this behavior
in VLC?

Pierre.
