[vlc-devel] capture strem when needed

Hello everyone,
	Is there a way to start stream capture when needed only? What I mean
is, say I'm playing a video clip and then I want to capture only part of the
video clip. How can I do that? Or any API I can use to achieve this?
	Sorry, I'm very new to VLC.
