I have taken into account the suggestions by Christophe and
Remi. Accompanying is a new patch that hopefully better implements
the two functionalities.
- The --enable-maemo -option is removed.
- Xsp library (specificially the XSPSetPixelDoubling function) is
autodetected, and, if present, pixel doubling will be compiled in.
Pixel doubling is thus useful for any platform that provides
  libXsp/XSPSetPixelDoubling.
- Osso library and osso_display_blanking_pause -functions are autodetected.
The dbus version in Scratchbox (at least in 0.9.8.8 or apophis) are classified
as below 1.0 by the configure script, so option --enable-old-dbus is required.
The glib header locations are hard-wired, but as long as the compilation is
done in Scratchbox, this is hardly a problem.
- MAEMO_BACKLIGHT_ON_INTERVAL is converted to lower-case.
- VLC version is determined from VERSION.

I'd be glad to apply your patch once you've answered to Christophe and
Remi's e-mails. Thanks,
