Subversion has *very often* trouble with merging po files
You may have notice the 'C' while updating your svn
> them badly in existing checkouts. Please just rm -rf po in your vlc  
> trunk and svn up again. This way, you get the complete po files which

cd po; svn revert *.po is quicker
