If you want to hear screamings I got a good candidate. What about
using the Qt4 code on OSX too ?

I managed to have it working BTW (osx / qt4), I had to re-add
osx_minimal (forgot the name) library that was missing, redo a make
install and the right dylib got copied in VLC.app.
The problem is that the video window is borderless, so you can't move
it with the mouse. Going to full screen also works, but there is a
synchronization problem with ffmpeg. I need to wait 5 seconds between
each switch to get the video working.
