Georg,

our ppc build machine is running nicely again. However, we discovered  
that FFmpeg's altivec implementation refuses to compile, both if you  
enable or disable the CPU optimisations, so the only solution for now  
would be disabling all ASM code on PowerPC-based Macs, something that  
really can't be recommended, even for development versions. We are  
going to work with the FFmpeg team to find a solution for this.  
Patches are likely to be welcome, of course. :-)
