Sorry to be stupid, but what are exactly the implications of this
change?

How will behave the adding of:
 - a file
 - a folder/directory
 - a network stream like mms://
 - a playlist (m3u and pls)
 - a SD (Shoutcast, FreeBox, MTP( Sephiroth ?) )
 - the Media Library
 ?
How would that change from current behaviour ?
