By the way, is the Freebox using RTSP? If so, would it not be that it times 
out the VLC client if it uses (rightfully) RTCP-RR as liveness proof, rather 
than non-portable and under-specified RTSP SET_PARAMETER?

If that's the case, it's a Freebox bug.
