Well, I would approve to go distributed. Though I am not sure the  
other committers (over 50) would, and I understand them. We would have  
to agree on a lead developer, which would of course cause problem.

This won't magically fix all the problem though. Spending long hours  
to merge a branch with nice features but also bugs is painful and a  
long list of changeset. As much as is bug finding.

Yet, this might help to resolve personnal conflicts...
