Binding Python to the various plugin types and APIs of LibVLC that are 
involved may end up being a lot more work than using libupnp or upnp-cc (I 
DON'T KNOW).

Also, I am not sure it makes sense to turn VLC into a "normal" UPnP A/V media 
library. That would possibly use quite few of the VLC specifics. Using the 
stream output to share the currently being played content may be more 
interesting??
