No need to think about this IMO. It's just my personal ignorance which  
didn't let me think about the implications of a little announced  
source code release to these communities.

Anyway, for announcement on the website I would just put VLC 0.8.6h or  
do you think it would make sense to say "hey, there's 0.8.6h for Win32  
and OS X plus 0.8.6g for BSD and Linux."? Releasing the current  
tarball labelled 0.8.6g as binaries to OS X and Win32 user just  
doesn't make much sense due to the reasons explained earlier.
