[fun at kebab ~]% ldd .local/lib/vlc/codec/libffmpeg_plugin.so|grep avcodec
libavcodec.so.51 => /usr/lib/libavcodec.so.51 (0x00007fb021758000)
[fun at kebab ~]% apt-cache show libavcodec-dev|grep ^Version
Version: 0.svn20080206-5
Version: 0.svn20080206-3
[fun at kebab ~]%
