The Fedora 10 package of vlc (0.9.6 right now) use the 300_all_pic and
310_all_mmx patches from gentoo in order to avoid selinux denials.
Selinux denials still appears with vlc dependencies (ffmpeg-libs
x264-libs) but there are temporary covered by selinux-policy-targeted.
Whenever it is possible, it is appreciated that problem raised by
selinux got fixed at source.

That been said I might revert the patches because it might be causing this bug:

For the freetype patch, the Fedora version change the path to
/usr/share/fonts/dejavu/DejaVuSerif-Bold.ttf
which is the commonly default font set used in Fedora since... years
(don't remember when).
