That actually  worked . No need to (Re)compile VLC by the way . I needed
to compile and install fribidi .19.X only .
The upstream version is not available in the Debian repos . A wishlist
bug was sent requesting the upstream version months ago but the
maintainer didn't act on It . I added a comment seconding the request
but If you guys at VLC can contact the Debian guys maybe they will
listen to you with open minds .
