As of today (git master from Saturday, April 18), it still 
breaks compilation on Linux for the mkv demux plugin (written in C++).
(see also http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=58315 that
describes the same problem). My OS is still ubuntu7.10 (maybe an issue
?)

Attached is the patch I use to overcome this problem, if that can help.
