I'm a bit puzzled why you change the version info for libvlc when the
functions are added to libvlccore (as reflected by the changes to
libvlccore.sym)

I would have leave libvlc's version-info to 4:1:2  and change
libvlccore's version-info from 2:1:0 to 3:0:1
