Funny, this whole big debate about playlist and libvlc was fired because I
believed that the "getting rid of IDs" that you are talking about was
refering to the libvlc media_list code :)

After all that, I believe you must be talking about src/input code. So
src/playlist is about to follow those changes? May you please make a quick
description of the mechanism by which concurrent access to data is about to
be protected?

I am just wandering if those changes could allow to remove the PLItem of the
Qt4 playlist and PLModel could permanently store playlist_item_t * directly.
