It's always possible to advice users through the support pages. The main
difference is, that it needs to be configured only *once* while changed
hardcoded default must be changed on every RTP use.

What inconsistency? If everything uses 1234 there's no inconsistency at all.
(Of course we should *not* revert to a state where CLI uses something else
than GUI).

This is getting really wierd. Before *I* pointed out, that we have different
defaults, noone cared about it, and our users were happily using VLC with
port 1234 via GUI. Afterwards, you commited the exact opposite than I was
proposing, i.e. you changed GUI to 5004 and not the RTP plugin back to 1234
which created the interop issues in the bugfix branch. And today, you're
saying that you refuse to even add an option to fix it.

Well, next time I would think twice before reporting a bug :-(
