I don't understand; this functionality has been there for months. 
(At least, it was there when I last checked.)

Perhaps the problem is that the original poster's *server* didn't 
support the 'trick play' operation (e.g., because the media (file) 
type wasn't one for which 'trick play' operations are supported)?
