When I said "contribs suck", I meant that our *underlying* libraries 
suck. I didn't mean that the *build* system sucked. The build system 
does have some bugs and limitations. And it's -unavoidably- unbearably 
slow. But it mostly works. No, the problem is, some of the underlying 
libraries just work better on Linux than on MacOS and/or on Unixes than 
on Windows.

That's good for VLC cross-compilation - thanks. But Pierre claimed that 
the underlying libraries are the main source of crashes on MacOS, and I 
claim that they are better on Linux (than on MacOS), and worse on 
Windows. That's a different perspective.
