Having different code for windows and osx (it's a technical reason
since there is a maintenance overhead)

j-b suggested removing downloading code, because
synchronisation between the GUI and the download thread can be
difficult to maintain.

It seems it was the cause to the bug in OSX interface: could you
confirm ? (I think pdherbemont introduced it in
[dfa0e1e9539a053a12073c333bd28e6d21ecd80a] but i'm not sure)


On a side not, the code could be moved from the core into private files
built by both osx & qt4 GUIs, it would just be a matter of
include ../misc/update.h and put ../misc/update.o or update.a into the
automake sources.


P.S. if i look into this i could track what happens on big endian
machines in the same time
