IMO the release should be delayed indefinitely due to way too many bugs 
unsolved, on be half of all the users in the whole universe I'd like to 
see a bugless vlc-1.0.0 because human have been waiting for this for the 
last decade .... and that's not to disappoint them in providing a 
software full of bugs not that I'm complaining it's just a fact thank 
you very much~
