Please note that scrolling credits in VLC's about window was
introduced in VLC 0.6.0, which was released on June 23 2003. This is
_SIX_ years ago now. Code changes to the scroll method since then:
zero. So, I fail to see the reason why people starting to complain
about this now. Lots of MacBooks send highly frequent noise from their
inside, especially when idle. That's a know issue with the devices
(I've got one of these myself). I wouldn't be surprised if other Intel-
based Macs are also affected. However, this is absolutely nothing VLC
could influence, as we are neither a graphics cards manufacturer nor
do we provide firmware updates for best VLC performance on the Mac.
Anyway, releases prior to 0.6.0 are not affected, because their about
screens look exactly like this:
<CONE>
VLC
Version 0.5.3 (0.5.3)
Copyright (c) 1996-2003 VideoLAN.
Thus, no setting changed. Just, no scrolling and no background graphic
and no nothing was present back then. Last releases of this series was
in April 2003 btw.
