The argument sounds like ``let's not <make this easier> because you can
always do it like <horribly complicated thing>''. I don't think that is
a particularly convincing or satisfying argument.

However, upon reflection I do agree that guessing isn't a proper
replacement, so this merely highlights that we need to come up with a
better process to configure the tree for local compiling.
