Basic procedure which assumes XCode-3.1.2 is installed:
1) git clone git://git.videolan.org/vlc.git vlc.git
2) cd vlc.git/extras/contrib
3) ./bootstrap
4) make bin (or make src if you are adventurus ;))
5) cd ../../
6) export CC="/Developer/usr/bin/llvm-gcc-4.2"
