As a user of the vlc plugin in browser and someone that is trying to
make the xpi bundling work right now, I think one problem could be about
having controls for fullscreen and the other is having controls for the
normal web usage.

the latter is "solved" since the js interface let website developers get
the UI they want. Possibly providing a default using js could be a good
solution for everybody.

the fullscreen issue is more icky, using the osd capabilities could be
quite interesting and should work well in the end, not sure which is the
status right now...

If you manage to avoid large libraries (e.g. qt and gtk) for this
feature would be nice since if the leaner the xpi package the lesser
people won't fetch it because takes too much time to fetch/is too big
for them.
