They are (unless Apple changed them since last time I checked). No news

I have to assume that they knowingly let VLC be distributed through their
AppStore. So they implicitly agree to the terms of the GPL for VLC. Then
any contradictory terms of the AppStore are void. Applidium probably
violates its contractual obligation to Apple, but this is none of our
business.
This is what I understood from private discussion with the SFLC.
I guess there might also be a problem with Apple lying to its customers if
the AppStores terms are invalid. But that is not our business either, at
least not mine (I do not use the AppStore).
