[vlc-devel] VLC display multiple video for multi-bitrate file... bug or feature?

Hello,

Before I open a bug/feature request in the *-paradise section, I would like
your feeling on this VLC behaviour.

When opening a MP4 or WMV file (also stream) that contain multiple video
track, then all of them are displayed in separate window.
The menu bar get attach to one of those video where the other video are
floating without control.

I was told that this was a feature... and indeed it is sometime nice to
have.

However, in both MP4 (3GPPv6) and WMV (ASF) it is possible to specify that
two or more video track mutualy exclude each other and that only one should
be displayed at a time. And in that case, I feel that VLC is not respecting
the file format indication.

I believe that at least at the initial loading of the file, only one track
(the one with the best bitrate) should be displayed. After that, either you
keep the current user interface to enable/disable individualy each video...
or you follow the way it is done for mutualy exclusive audio track... I
don't care.

Why do you think the current behaviour is considered "normal" or is it
considered as a "feature"?

Thanks.
