[vlc-devel] Hello, VLC Personnal Cloud Project, and trac tickets

Hello, I am an undergraduate student at the University of Utah, majoring in
computer engineering. I am interested in participating in this year's
Google Summer of Code, and I also liked the idea of the VLC Personnal Cloud
Project 2.0 proposed by (or at least the proposed mentor) dionoea.

Currently, my most ostentatious (although certainly not my best piece of
code, not by a long shot anyway), project was a really crappy file
compressor I hacked together. i put the project online at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lcompress/, although due to extremely
brittle code, and a really crappy algorithm, I probably won't due much more
with that particular project.

So, I've read that the people that are most likely to become excepted become
involved with the project a few months before hand. Well, it seems like I'm
already a little late, however, I still would like to give it a shot. So, I
would like to know what type of things I need to do to get you to accept me.

Also, as a side note (maybe this should go in another email, I'm still
trying to learn the etiquette of this mailing list based on the archives),
in an attempt to try to close some bugs (both to familiarize myself with the
codebase, and to get some more public projects below my belt, in hopes to
become accepted), I went to trac, and the pages that supposedly sorts open
tickets by difficulty (https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/report/11), I get the
following error:

> Report execution failed: ERROR: invalid reference to FROM-clause entry for
> table "t" LINE 9: LEFT OUTER JOIN ticket_custom diff ON t.id=diff.ticket
> AND... ^ HINT: There is an entry for table "t", but it cannot be referenced
> from this part of the query.

I have no idea how long that's bee broken, and I don't think I have the
proper permissions to fix it.

Again, I'm sorry if this is an inappropriate place to ask this. Although, I
asked this question on the irc channel, and was pointed to the mailing list.
However, I wasn't sure which one to use, but this one seemed the
most appropriate.
