Of course, if someone reuses the same M3U8 tricks with a different payload
file format, then VLC should support it in due time. But I don't think we
should _promote_ this, nor any other OSS project. In my opinion, M3U8 is
just a hack around limitations of the TS to enable (imprecise) seeking, and
if you will, bandwidth negotiation.
