That license does not seem to allow modifications. So I expect the
resulting VLC build will not be redistributable in binary form. Then, Linux
distribution won't carry the plugin. It might be advisable to provide the
plugin as a separate tarball with its own simple build system (that does
not preclude putting the plugin source code in the VLC tree).

I don't know what happens if LGPL is used for the plugin. I don't know what
happens if libvlc is switched to LGPL.
