That's wishful thinking. It won't make any difference if the default
settings is on. And if the default settings were off, then we might as well
remove the icon altogether.

I disagree.  The people who are upset about it just want a way to stop it.
 I've said before, a lot of people love it, and forget the whole religious
crap for a second... I don't care about Christmas or not... Hell I plan to
submit a Halloween patch and maybe others.  The real principle, is that
when someone says "hey, how do I disable this?" there should be a decent
answer other than "compile it yourself" or "switch to another player".
