I totally agree with you.

Rich Green (CTO Nokia) has pointed at the QT Developer Days 2010 in
Munich out, that Nokia has currently 45 Million Symbian Devices out
there that are able to run QT. They expect to have 50 Million more in
the next two years.

I think, 100 Million VLC-Symbian-Users are worth it to continue with the
Symbian port.
