Yes it's still supported, there's no loss of functionality. I checked
and as far as I could tell, all subtitle codec modules outputting HTML
wrap it inside either <text> or <karaoke>. This commit catches the case
where they wouldn't, to prevent anything weird from happening with XML
parsing.
