Hello every one,

I am in a phase where i want to construct a server demonstration for
transcoding 4 to 5 channels in SD to mpeg4 using vlc project. And i have been
asked to buy good machines to do so. I looked at internet and i found out
that the core i 7 2600 k processors are constructed to do transcoding in
real time And now i would like to have your opinion, and if some one already
try to do so. And i would like to know if their is a study that gives the
exact computing performance needed to encode and decode H264 streams it
would be really helpfull.
NB: The server that ill use need to be running 24/24 hours. u
