I was thinking mainly of fairness. Currently, having two authors listed
visibly in the source itself and others hidden in the logs treates the
different authors differently.

It's also an issue of convenience (especially for potential code reuse
in other GPL projects), as looking at the logs requires extra effort
when compared to reading the source.

For these reasons, I think it would be nice if all major contributors of
the module (as slippery as defining "major" might be) were listed as
authors. Another consistent way would be to remove the author tags
altogether, of course :)

But I'm fine with whichever way is deemed reasonable.
