Creating threads is not deprecated of course. Storing threads in a VLC
object is.

VLC objects do too many unrelated things. It became a big mess over time.
Nowadays, they still do three unrelated things:
 - messages logging,
 - module probing loading, and
 - VLC variables/callbacks and variables inheritance.
