[vlc-devel] Possilbe to track the current position/time of the media being played?

Folks,

While playing a media file, if the power goes off for some reason, I need to restart VLC somewhere around the position when the power went off.

1. Is there already any hook within vlc code to save current time or position? If not, which module should such functionality be added?
2. Is there any command line option to start vlc from a specific time or position within a media file?
