Nice... That means I can not distribute the resulting binary as LGPL
anymore, due to the inclusion of GPLv2 code.

Distribution as GPLv2 code is not really possible, as you can hardly
consider LIVE555 a derivative work of those patches... thus changing the
license of the derivative to the common denominator (GPLv2) is a no-go. 

Was that considered as well? Or shall we packagers just not ship live555
anymore at all? (Which seems the only solution: either legal
infringement or no support anyway).

I'll gladly learn more about the license issue we're facing here though.
Maybe I got it completely wrong :P
